Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 July 2026. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
1. Who we are
This website, lion-jo.aljarash.com, is operated by Lion & Jo Commercial Interiors, LLC (“Lion & Jo”, “we”, “us”), an Illinois limited liability company with its principal place of business at 55 East Monroe Street, Chicago, Illinois 60603, United States. The person responsible for privacy matters is the owner, Elizabeth Miller, reachable at Elizabeth@lion-jo.aljarash.com or +1 (408) 801-3129.
We are a commercial interior design and construction business. We are not an advertising network, we do not operate a data brokerage, and we have never sold personal information to anyone.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Enquiry details: your name, company, email address, telephone number, and whatever you choose to write about your project when you use our contact form or email us directly.
- Client and project records: if you engage us, the contact details, site information, billing details and correspondence necessary to deliver and account for the work.
- Supplier information: capability statements, licences and insurance certificates sent by trade partners seeking pre-qualification.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs: our hosting provider records IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, referring URL and timestamp for every request. These logs exist for security and troubleshooting and are rotated automatically.
- Cookies: a strictly necessary cookie recording your cookie-consent choice, and — only if you consent — anonymous analytics. See section 5 and our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data (health, biometric, political, religious or similar), and we ask that you do not send such information to us.
3. How we use information
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Responding to your enquiry and preparing a proposal | Name, contact details, project information |
| Delivering a project you have contracted us for | Client and project records, site access details |
| Invoicing, accounting and statutory record keeping | Billing contact, transaction records |
| Keeping the website secure and available | Server logs, IP address |
| Understanding which pages are useful (only with consent) | Aggregated, anonymised analytics |
| Occasional project updates to existing clients | Business email address |
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not build advertising audiences from visitors to this site.
4. Legal bases
Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to a visitor, we rely on: legitimate interests (responding to business enquiries, securing our website, ordinary business administration); performance of a contract (delivering projects we have been engaged for); consent (analytics cookies, which you may withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (tax, accounting and construction record-keeping requirements).
5. Cookies and analytics
This site sets one strictly necessary item in your browser’s local storage to remember your cookie preference so we do not ask again on every page. If you accept analytics, we may use a privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics measure that records page views and referrers without building a cross-site profile of you. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. Full detail is in the Cookie Policy.
6. Sharing with third parties
We share personal information only where it is necessary:
- Hosting and email providers that operate our website and mailbox under contract;
- Professional advisers — accountants, insurers and legal counsel — where required;
- Subcontractors and suppliers on a live project, limited to the site contact details they need to do the work;
- Authorities where we are legally compelled, for example a valid court order or a building-department requirement.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in United States state privacy laws.
7. Retention
- Enquiries that do not lead to a project: deleted within 24 months.
- Client project records: retained for 7 years after final account, consistent with Illinois contract limitation periods and tax rules.
- Accounting records: retained for 7 years.
- Server logs: retained by our host for up to 90 days.
8. Security
The website is served exclusively over HTTPS. Mailboxes and business systems are protected by multi-factor authentication and access is limited to employees who need it. Project files are stored on managed, access-controlled systems and backed up daily. No system is perfectly secure, but we will notify affected individuals and the relevant authority without undue delay if a breach is likely to present a risk.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Residents of California and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may additionally request disclosure of the categories of information collected and may opt out of any sale or sharing — noting that we do not sell or share personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
To make a request, email Elizabeth@lion-jo.aljarash.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We verify identity proportionately and respond within 30 days, or 45 days where the request is complex, and we will tell you if we need the extra time.
10. Children
Our services are provided to businesses. This website is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International visitors
We operate from the United States and information you send is processed there. If you contact us from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and stored in the U.S. Where required, we use appropriate contractual safeguards with our service providers.
12. Changes and contact
If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change significantly affects you, note it on our home page for 30 days. Questions, complaints and requests all go to the same place:
